Pre Season Training and AGM

There will be a combined (Women's and Men's) pre-season training on Wednesday the 25th January at Rex Morpeth Park starting at 6pm. This will consist of some small sided games (6-7 a side). Spread the word to anyone else who may be interested.

After this, we would like to see you all up in the club for our Annual General Meeting starting at 8pm. We require the majority of the clubs members to attend this meeting. You will not be obligated to fulfill any roles, although new committee members will be welcomed and encouraged, as more hands make light work.

Remember, this is your club.

1st Team Coach Werner Rechsteiner has not reapply for the 2012 Coaching position of the Men’s 1st Team that he first held back in 1999. He informed the club’s Senior Management Committee and his players over his intention of not coaching next season. Werner whom started playing for Whakatane Town FC 1st Team back in 1996 was coaching 11 out of the last 13 seasons. He managed to win 11 League and Cup Trophies and 4 Tournaments in his involvement with the Men’s & Women’s 1st Teams. He also managed to pick up the Men’s 1st Team top scorer award, 8 times in his 14 years playing at the highest level in the club. In the 2003/04/05 Seasons, he was coaching both the Men’s and Women’s 1st Teams and in 2004, his greatest achievement in coaching for the club came. Winning the Double with both Teams in the Club’s 50 Jubilee year was something special for him to give back to the history of the club. In the following season 2005, he was made a Life Member for his great contributions on and off the field.

“I have had a great time representing this club on all different levels with playing and coaching. I guess it’s always sad to leave something you love doing but I feel it’s the right time for me to let go for now and support the club in other ways for the time being”.
