Whakatane Bay 2 vs Otumoetai
All round display ensures Victory for Whakatane AFC Bay 2
What may prove to be a dress rehersal for the CNS Bowl semi-final in a couple weeks time, Whakatane Town AFC Bay 2 showed that they are starting to peak at the right end of the season. The Eastern Bay Podiatry team travelled to Ferguson Park to play Otumoetai FC for the round 12 fixture. Playing under a warm sun and on a imaculate surface the fixture was sure to produce an entertaining game. Whakatane AFC dominated from the first whistle to get the 3-0 result. Smart passing and support play between the defence and the midfield saw plenty of opportunities for the Whakatane forwards. The opening goal came in the 25 minute when Marco Olson shot wide of the keeper adding to his ever growing season tally. The second goal came in the minutes after half time when Matt Fraser found himself in space, 30 yards out, and smartly chipped the Otumoetai keeper. Again, Olson finished the dominance Whakatane had over their opponents picking up a brace in the closing minutes of the game. Bay 2 Whakatane may have another opportunity to play Otumoetai FC with both teams still in the CNS Bowl along with Taupo Reservses and Ngongataha Reserves. The draw for the the semi final is decided this week.
