Whakatane Bay 2 vs Papamoa Bay 1

Eastern Bay Podiatry Whakatane Town Bay 2 travelled with a depleted squad to Papamoa to play the Papamoa Bay 1 team in the first round of the CNS Cup. With only 10 players Town put in a commendable performance restricting the amount of first half possession Papamoa had with a slick passing game between the back line and mid-field players.  A first half goal came from Patrick ......... who snuck the ball between keeper and cross bar from out side the box. Unfortunately the second half proved much tougher as being a man down started to show in the legs of the Town players.  A late equaliser from Papamoa sent the game into extra-time. With some of the 10 players struggling through the 90 minutes a 120 minute game was not apprieciated. Chances came in extra time for Whakatane Town Bay 2 but Papamoa Bay 1 was able to capitalise on the extra man and scored the desisive goal that put them into the next round.  The McDonalds Man of the Match went to Mark Pickles. Eastern Bay Podiatry Whakatane Town Bay 2's next game is against Turangi away.
